A pair of local athletes were named to a prestigious All-Star game to be held this summer.

Northern Nash senior Michael Bunn and Southern Nash senior Matt Foster were selected to the East roster of the East-West football game this summer.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. on July 22 at Greensboro’s Jamieson Stadium.

The athletes were also the only two to be named to the 21-player team from the Big East Conference.

As a quarterback, Foster helped guide the Firebirds to their best season in school history that included their first trip to the Class 3-A state championship game.

Foster threw for 11 touchdowns and 745 yards.

Foster, who is headed to Division II Wingate University, also rushed for 1,153 yards and nine touchdowns.

Bunn was the leader on the Northern Nash defense. He led the team with 101 tackles, 15 more than the next player.

Bunn also added four sacks and a fumble recovery.

The Knights advanced to the second round of the playoffs where they lost to Southern Nash, the eventual East champions.
